It’s time to ditch the candles and air fresheners. They may smell nice, but very often the scents are made from synthetic chemicals that are typically labeled as “fragrance.” Fragrance or parfum are terms used to hide undisclosed chemical ingredients that may be contained in a product, usually consisting of synthetic chemicals designed to mimic the smell of natural scents. Manufacturers aren’t required to disclose the specific ingredients contained in scented products as the recipe is considered a trade secret.
With repeated exposure toxins build up and accumulate in your body – a process called “bioaccumulation.” This means that the more you come in contact with these toxins, the harder it is for your body to break them down. This build up causes both minor and major health issues. These issues may not be apparent right away but they will manifest later on down the road.

Pretty soon the temperatures will be getting cooler which means you’ll most likely be spending more time indoors. The windows will be closed and the air in your home is going to get stale. Cooking or baking can fill your house with warm, cozy aromas. When you’re not creating delicious scents you may decide to burn a candle or use a plug-in air freshener to make your house smell. Don’t do it!
