There’s no two ways about it you are getting older with each passing day. It’s a good thing! Better than the alternative. ;-) The good news is there are some simple things you can do to help you age gracefully.

If you don’t fit into the over 50 crowd, that’s ok. This information is still relevant to you, too. It can prepare you for get older AND you may be able to help your parents or grandparents by sharing this information with them.

Did you know what you eat makes a difference? It does! So does exercise. Are you surprised? If you've read any of my other blog posts or follow me on social you already know that those are two areas I talk about A LOT! They are critical to your health and well-being and to help you age with ease.

Diet

Part of aging gracefully includes avoiding disease and maintaining mobility. What you eat can play a HUGE role in keeping your body healthy and preventing many common diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and even cancer.

Consume better quality food and focus mainly on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. The Standard American Diet (SAD) contains many highly processed, or manipulated, foods that are SUPER addictive.

Exercise

Being physically active helps with bone strength, balance, and maintaining a healthy weight. Exercising regularly can also reduce the risk of stress and anxiety, and many diseases including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and even some cancers!

Physical activity can increase your energy levels through many different means. It increases the blood flow to your body, which supplies more oxygen and in turn boosts energy and reduces fatigue.

Feel sore after a workout? There are hundreds of products on the market to help enhance your workout and it can be difficult to determine what to use. It’s important to choose safe, natural products to support your body.

Always consult with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

Focus and Concentration

The older you get, the more concern you may have regarding Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Research has been conducted that shows certain essential oils, like Rosemary, Peppermint, Basil, and Lemon, may improve mental alertness and memory function, keeping the brain functioning at full capacity.

The foods you eat can also play a role with brain function. Eat more fruits and vegetables and limit oil. Keep the blood flowing in your veins that supply blood to the brain.

Stimulating your mind can help too. Do puzzles, engage in social activities, and continue to learn.

The number, your chronological age, will continue to go up every year no matter what you do but what is each one supposed to feel like anyway? You get to decide. The way you live and the choices you make have the greatest impact!
