

What you eat is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Food is fuel! It is your energy source. If you need to make improvements to the way you eat please read this carefully.
Building a Healthy Pantry (Part 1)
Let’s get you started with a pantry makeover. Begin by removing all unhealthy, tempting foods/ingredients from your pantry and don’t purchase them again. Then fill it with good, wholesome staples.
Do you even know what’s in your pantry? When was the last time you gave it a thorough cleaning? This is the perfect opportunity.
What does eating healthy even mean? If you not sure what unhealthy food is these tips should help.
Pantry Overhaul Guidelines
Start by looking at the ingredient list on labels of the foods you have
If you can’t pronounce it or don’t know what an ingredient is look it up online. Ditch it if it’s not healthy
Take out all “white” pasta, grains, and sugar
Remove all highly processed foods. Like boxed mixes that include sauces or that you just add water to
Look for items with lots of sugar and sodium and eliminate
Remove foods that contain high amounts of oil.
Keep foods with five ingredients or less
Keep everything that does not contain the above
Ingredients to Avoid
- High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)
- Sucralose, Aspartame, Saccharin, Acesulfame-K
- Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
- Potassium Benzoate & Sodium Benzoate
- Sodium Chloride
- Hydrogenated/Partially Hydrogenated oils, Refined Oils, Fractionated Oils, Canola Oil, Soy Oil

Now that you have the basic guidelines for what to look for, it’s time to purge. I challenge you to GET RID OF ALL of the items on the above lists.
If you’d rather not waste food by throwing it in the trash use up what you have or consider donating any opened packages to your local food pantry.
